I understand ads are needed to help pay for this site, but the implementation of the skyscraper ads down the right side is extremely annoying.
Every time I go to a forum index, the ad isn't displayed initially.
Just as I click on the "NEW" icon on an interesting looking topic, the ad appears, pushing everything else to the left, and reformatting the page so I click on another topic altogether.
Can't you just reserve space for the ad, so the whole page doesn't reformat when it finishes loading?

Ric,

Can you post a screenshot of this please?  I don't have such an ad here.  All I see is the one on the top + 2 at the bottom.  Neither of them affect my browsing experience in the way you describe.

Sure. Here is how the page appears at first, then how it looks a few seconds later.

hmm ... that's irritating indeed.  I'll forward it to "the powers that be" and see if something can be done about it.

Strangely enough, I really don't have such a thing on any screen.  Methinks I will create a dummy acount to see if there's any difference between how moderators and regular members see the forum.
