Just letting the rest of the country know that I am in Melbourne Australia on a Telstra HTC Desire and although it is not on the HTC website I finally got an update message to say my update was available.

And I have just spent 6 hours of my life trying to install it - phone is lucky it didnt get bounced of a wall. Everytime I started the install it cancelled the sync and told me there was no phone connected to the computer - I did follow th instructions on the website - pathetic as they are.
Now its going back to HTC for the third and last time - heaven forbid Im even thinking about an I phone

I have just done the upgrade to 2.2 on Sunday and since then I have been unable to update weather or friend stream by mobile phone network (as not always in a wifi) setting - stuck on Sunday.  Also when composing a message, if message longer than the screen display it disappears behind the qwery keyboard and you cannot see what you are typing.  Tracker ball just scrolls up/down to previous message and not through characters of the email to move screen up.

Also, the wireless network where I work has a | in the wep key, but I cannot find a | on the qwerty keyboard so how can I type in the wep key without a |

Any suggestions?

Did you ever sort those issues out?
I bought my Desire a week ago. It came with 2.1, but self updated to 2.2 soon after I connected to my home network, and I didn't have any of those issues.

Press "12#" to go into number mode, then "1/2" to switch to the "special" characters, and it's on the second row.
