Below are the apps that I have found useful

Advanced Task Killer  <<<  Must have app. Helps extend battery life.
ASTRO File Manager   <<<  Easy to use app for Manage Files.
WiFinder                  <<< WiFi Scanner. Nice Simple Interface.
Dolphin Browser HD    <<< Internet Browser. I find this browser better than the standard browser
beebplayer               <<< unoffical BBC Player App for ( UK Only )

I am a sailer, and have found the compass (search on the Android Marked) "Compass Snaptic" very easy and useful.  Works well with the GPS as well.

I also have found the application 3banana that can be downloaded via the compass useful for making notes on my Desire.

For weather I have found the application yr.no widget located on:
www.ermesjo.org/yr/beta.apk useful.  It shows both wind and weather details hour by hour and forcast.  Wind is of course particularely interesting for us sailors  Smiley

That's great advise! I'm a sailor to, so I'll make sure to download this app as well!

On a side note, I spent my day yesterday getting to know my new phone, and I've come to the stage where I can join in the contributing, so here's my contribution:

Food Finder.

This app let's you find restaurants near you, and you can search by categories (eg: Bagels, Pizzeria, Mediteranian, etc) I was afraid it wouldn't work in Europe, but it works fine! Uses google maps to estimate distance + route.

Enjoy!

Is there an App for Google search?
When reading reviews for the Desire I saw a video which showed the reviewer photograph a can of Guiness and from that picture Google found loads of info about it.
All I'm looking for is a simple search facility really. I've tried Google search and curiously came up with zilch.

Further to my query about Google search App. I found it after trawling through the user manual. It's the Quicksearch but it would not fit on the home page so had to put it elsewhere.  Roll Eyes

ebuddy (For all messengers. MSN,Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and even has a Facebook chat function)
Google Goggles is just amazing lol.
Pkt Auctions Ebay
UK TV Droid (TV listings app)
Shazam (recognises any music playing, and gives you details of artist etc)
Hello Kitty wallpapers. (Sooo cute!)  Grin
Battery status pro (gives you a run down of how long the battery will last playing music, watching videos etc)
