Starting this topic as many users out there using Outlook and trying to sync with Outlook.

Afraid MyPhoneExplorer is not the answer:
- poor UI
- USB connection intermittent (and needs HTC Sync installed to activate USD debugging)
- 3 way sync: Outlook<>MPE<>Phone so:
   - first sync or overwrite takes HOURS
   - MPE to Phone not a separate sync function
   - incomplete sync function
- Developer web site is poor
   - offline
   - posts old
   - mostly in German
   - little information about Andriod - mostly is for Sony

Conclusion:
- free (so what if doesnt work!)
- no support
doesnt work properly

Good job testing. Well, so it's back to Googling an alternative...

In contrast, I had none of the problems with MyPhoneExplorer mentioned by Road_Warrior.
First sync (done via Wifi) took 3 minutes, subsequent syncs take a couple of seconds.
All contacts sync'd fine - none missing.
Re the developer website - use the English section of the forum. I asked a question which was answered in minutes.
The only thing missing is a manual/guide but I did get it working myself and after all it is free!

Does it sync tasks and notes please?

HTC sync does not include these important areas.

Thank you

Major problem with syncing contacts from Outlook.

If you add a contact to the favorites folder on the Desire it changes the properties of that contact, when you resync it then corrupts the Contact in Outlook. You are now unable to use that contact information to send an email from outlook, you get an undeliverable system admin message.

HTC are aware of this and have been for some time, yet they still have not dealt with this major problem. Lips sealed

This is a problem with HTC Sync and is why I swapped to MyPhoneExplorer.
The latest release of HTCS may fix this issue though?

One commercial product that does sync Outlook notes with Android is Companion link (http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/. In my opinion, the only shortfall of this product is that it syncs with its own android app and not with the standard ones that come bundled with the phone.

Although I think that certain HTC bundled apps (such as calander) have considerable room for improvement, I'm note sure what I would miss if I stopped using these apps.

Love HTC phones, unfortunately HTCSync is useless.  MPE is small effective and syncs with Outlook (2003), doesn't duplicate contacts - I have 3000, so when it gets to 6000 after one sync with HTCsync, there is something wrong.
Used HTC sync for 2 months, now stalled - installed MPE, no memory leakage (HTCSync 150MB VM! cf 30MB)
