This is the custom ROM section. If you don't know what the entire section is about, please stay away because it will only serve to confuse.

Have you upgraded to a 2.3 ROM? What is your experience/comments?

Thanks.

No camcorder for me yet, but I did change my partitions to the Oxygen one. It does seem like Cyanogen has managed it.

What ROM are you using?

HTC Desire (Telus)

« Reply #3 on: January 23, 2011, 02:11:00 AM »

Got my first Android device (Desire on Telus) last week and rooted it the following day.  Then did S-OFF (AlphaRev) and and used the Oxygen HBOOT for maximum free space.  Flashed Oxygen RC6 at first, and then RC7 today when I heard it was out.  I have yet to find something that doesn't work, but then again, I've had it for like a week, so maybe the bugs will show themselves in due time, maybe not, but so far it's shining!  It's replacing an iPhone 3GS in my case.

Sense UI did not really do anything for me, but I wanted a Desire over a Nexus One because of SLCD (I got really itchy about the PenTile pattern used in the AMOLED screen).  SLCD uses good old RGB pattern, so I'm set.  (It seems like all Telus Desires were to be SLCDs anyway, so I was safe).

So, Gingerbread wins for me so far.  All I'm missing is a Class 10 32GB microSDHC, my 16GB is full already with music.

If you like minimalism, Oxygen won't disappoint.  Although I had the OEM rom for like a day, it felt bloated and Oxygen is much snappier.  You'll like it!

Best regards!

im running on cyanogenmod7 nightly build (#12)
very stable, very fast, plus all the tweaks of cynagogen team.
been running nightly builds for a month, no problems yet, with all the features of GB.
Oxygen has more space for Internal memory, (Im on Hboot N1 table) but CM confirmed they are working on a custom hboot with alpharev.

EDIT: camera recording also works, not 720p though

Hmm... I seldom record anything, so I'll just stay with Oxygen. I applied the Oxygen HBOOT, so..... *shrugs*

well i actually tried Oxygen RC6 w/ Oxygen Hboot , but for some reason, its not smooth for me.
In fact, ever since I started flashing ROMS 3 months ago using your guide, it is the only ROM where I get FCs and lag. Maybe my phone doesnt like Oxygen. LOL

I'd switch back, but I'm too lazy to re-flash the hboot. Maybe tonight...

I've been tempted to try the OxygeN ROM, with the HBOOT fix and not use A2SD+ the idea of a more pure android experience from MIUI_Au which I am currently using is tempting me. Would you recommend it? I guess since you would, given the effort, return to Cyanogen suggests not?

Pretty satisfied with Oxygen. The HBOOT is awesome, because I have nearly 400mb of memory to mess around with. I also removed my ext partition, so you can guess how free I feel right now Smiley
