Broken LCD turned into dead Desire :(

Hey

I hope you guys can help me, I got hold of a HTC Desire with a broken LCD panel and my plan was to fix it my self, I took it a part to check which type of display the unit had and the part number was a mix of both types of panels which confused me alot. The actual P/N was 60H00443-00P

I took a chance ordered a Sony SLCD because i thought the first part of the P/N was most importent but when I tried to install it today the phone did vibrate but the LCD stayed dark.. I checked if the connector was attached correctly, and it was.. So I tried to install the old panel and there it lights up.. But when I then put it back together it would not turn on, when I press the power button nothing happens So i thought that the battery might had been low, so I put it in a charger and the diode on the front lid up (Red light) and I charged for awhile, when I looked at it again (about 15min later) the red light was out and now it doesn't even do anything when the charger is connected..

Can anybody help me figure out what has happened?

I might tell you that I do not know the history of the phone but my friend told me that it had been dropped, which caused the LCD to shatter..

Well I just don't understand why it would turn on the backlight on the old screen when i plugged that in :-/ but when i screwed it together it would not boot :-/ I'm new to working on desire so I might have killed it..

I just tried to take put the battery and then plugged it into the power and then the phone flashes a red light on front so the phone isnt totally dead :-/

Well that is the problem, it is the old screen which is in the unit now..

it turned on when assembled, but when I put in the screws then it would not turn on, and then I tried to remove the screws again but it will not power on..
