I have  bought a 2400mAh battery for my phone (for £12.00 it was worth a try)
I have charged it as per the normal battery for a first charge
More that 8hrs switched on make sure green light on
Switched off then charged again till green light comes on. But it don't. i think the normal charger has not got it in it to do this.

So, question, any one know of a charger with more oomph.

I had better add that the battery is 5mm thicker. I though this would look/feel bas but in fact it feels better. You seem to get a better hold on it.
Onr the first charge described above it ran as the normal battery except i left navigation running for 2 1/2 hours accidently. At the end of the day there was still about 40% charge in it.
I have left it till this weekend to give it another charge to see if i can get the full charge cycle.

The charger certainly has the capacity to charge the battery, but it''ll need some time.  When calibrating a normal battery, you can wait an hour or more for the light to turn green ... IF it turns green at all when the phone is off.
One of my Desires has this fun tendency to tell me it's still charging even when it's been doing that for 10 or more hours already.

But nevermind.  As I said, some steps in the calibration can take an hour or longer on the 1400mAh battery, so do the math what happens on a 2400mAh example.

With regards to using a more powerfull charger, this one already has a 1A output.  I wouldn't go much higher than that, as the electricity still goes through a regular circuit board to get to the battery.

Yeah... you risk frying the phone on anything higher than the original charger. All charging is routed through the phone's mobo first, and there's a smart circuitry to prevent over-charging (hence the lighting up of the yellow LED). Anything higher than the prescribed original is risque, in my opinion.

Btw, pix please~ we wanna see you plumped up desire too Tongue

I know i could run the risk of a fry up with a bigger mAh charger.
I had the green light with the phone on indicating a full charge (100% ??) but i then switched if off and charged it as per normal calibtation, after 24hrs it's still showing orange.
Switched the phone on and checked the charge and it was at 75% Huh??

Problem could be due to calibration of the battery's smart chip. Try to take out the phone, use it intensively and re-charge it. Other than that, I have no other ideas.

It does not work like that. The charger does not push the power into the phone so a charger with an output of 5v and 2 amp will not charge the phone any faster than the standard 1 amp output charger. The phone is limiting the current it takes from the supply. This is why it only charges at 500mA from a USB port but 1000mA from the AC charger

Nice tip Neil. Now I remember that the USB port only allows up to 500mAH per pin and the AC adapter charges two pins. Anything higher and the USB architecture itself doesn't support it

Doesn't matter. All that will happen is that your battery charges slightly slower. No harm in it, really.
