Today, at
exactly 15:30 (14:30 GMT), my HTC desire, that was powered OFF, suddenly woke up - just as if I'd pressed the power button. (It was on the table at the time. The button was not knocked accidentally.)
This has happened on a few previous occasions - and indeed I've discovered the device on when I know I'd turned it off.
I know that Google and HTC claim to collect data about the device's usage etc., but does this extend to remotely activating the device [to collect such data]? Or is this government survelillance? (Yes, I'm serious.)
I called Vodafone, who flatly denied that they have the ability, or the authority to do such a thing.
Of course, many people have their phone on 24/7 (or certainly all the time during the day), so if there was any snooping going on they wouldn't notice. I only noticed because I heard the HTC switch-on tune.
Incidentally, has anybody found any stored files/pdfs on their device that they don't recall downloading?
