Is there any way or any apps that would allow you to choose your own message received tone, ringtone and alarm tone from your own mp3 on the sd card?

Hello. Mount your SD on your PC. Create 3x directories media\ringtones, Media\notifications, media\alarms. Just drop whichever MP3's you wish to use for those types of notifications into those directories and you're set. Good luck

There is an app. called "Ringdroid" (its free). You select the song you want to use and can save it straight away as a ringtone/notification, etc. OR you can cut a particular part of the song out and save it as a ringtone,etc.

There's a certain way to choose your own message relieved tone and ringtone.  The application Ringdroid is the best option. It will allow you to have ringtones from your mp3 for your own message tone.

@Boots
Using the stock sms app I am not sure but using Handcent, available from the market for free, you can change the tone, LED colour and icon colour.  There are a huge amount of things you can change using Handcent.

If there is a way to do this, I sure haven't found it.  I have different ringtones for calls, but not found a way to assign different sounds to texts or emails from different people.

I would like to know if it is possible as well.

No such luck with the default messaging app, but I've read somewhere that Handcent supports individual message tones.  I only use the default app, so I can't verify this info myself.
