For HTC Users Manual, go to your Google search engine on your PC and type in  HTC Desire Users Manual UK.
When the Google page opens choose  HTC - support.
Choose 'your product' as Desire.
Choose 'User Guides.'
Click on your language from the 'User Manual list.'
English is top of the list and 5.8 Mb.
Click on that if you want English and you'll receive the downloaded User Manual.
(Click on your chosen language if it is not English.)
Resize it to about 70%.
Save it to your Desktop.
Enjoy a good read....  Smiley

Having the Users Manual on your computer screen means that you can read, and play with the phone's functions at the same time.

If you connect your phone to your computer via USB, and browse the phone's drive, you'll see a folder called 'Desire User Manual'

Just grab it from there. Smiley

The manual's index is messed up.  Every single heading in the index points to page 1.

Also if you goto "all programs/PDF Viewer/Desire_OUK_UM.pdf" there is a 208 page manual.

Thank you - just having a look around and this is a great place to start - Thanks again!  Smiley

I must be jinxed because I've tried all three options in this thread, and nothing works.  I cannot find an ALL PROGRAMS link to click on the menu, it simply isn't there :-(  Also the PDF wont load properly into adobe.
At the moment I'm finding this phone very hard work.

The PDF manual is handy if you're at a computer screen, but it's pretty much unusable on the phone itself using the Acrobat Viewer (I don't have a PDF Viewer on my phone for some weird reason). It would be even handier if it were available in a paper booklet for flicking through and easy reference. Is there anywhere in the UK from where I can buy the physical manual? I know, I could print it myself, but 200+ pages of A4 is not very handy to carry around...

Yeah I got that - thanks for stating the obv, but my adobe wouldn't read it.  I have done it via my work PC instead.

I have managed to put the pdf manual onto my Kindle - and as that goes most places with me, has proved more handy than a printed copy of the manual.  Worth a try if anyone else has a ebook reader.
