Ringtones and Wallpapers

Does anyone know if the HTC Desire supports animated wallpapers? Ive tried applying an animated wallpaper but it only applies as a regular wallpaper.....help?!

It supports "live" (animated) wallpaper but I have no idea what type of file it uses.

Under "Settings > Personalise > Home Wallpaper" there's live ones available but I don't know what format you'd use to make your own.

Actually I find the movement on the home page annoying so a static one does me fine.
BTW Live wallpaper is an additional battery drain.

Don't know if there is still any interest in this thread but there are some Nexus one live wallpapers that look quite smart on the desire. This one below is currently my favourite and will be staying on my phone. The rest of the video is about other apps but the wallpaper can be seen at the beginning, ignore the rest if you like.

I don't see much difference in battery life compared to a staic wallpaper.
