You actually need S-OFF for it to work on the HTC Desire...

I read somewhere that s-off means to have turned off the security, which i get by enrevoked root. So can you explain it me what is this. And one more question pls- will AdFree remove whole the ads banner or only advertaisment but banner with empty space will stay there? Thanks a lot!

Basically, AdFree needs to write in your /system partition on real time, otherwise it won't really work.

S-OFF needs alpharev, actually.

Adfree could also be flashed from recovery, but the host file can't be updated. The host file is the list of advertising sites and such

Here's how it's done:

It's just like flashing a new ROM, just that it's not the entire ROM, but just a few things...

One more question, does AdFree hide the whole banner or only blocks the ad with the empty space left in app?

The banner would not be shown at all... it'll just be the normal screen. If the app has a reserved space for the advertisement, it will be an empty space.
