This should stir things up but I after changing the wallpaper, screen settings, and only using 3G if I didnt have wifi I just got 5.5 days from a single charge. I spoof you not. The phone went to 10% tonight so I put it on charge. I made 5 or 6 calls per day, sent more than a few sms, updated weather and friend stream 2 or 3 times per day and email. I also played an occasional game.

Damn right this stirs things up.  Time to look for a way to get an accurate reading on my battery's capacity.
If the 5,5 days on 90% are anything to go by, My battery only puts out around 600mAh.

Mine is improving, or seems to be, in as much as switching wi-fi off when not needed, 3G off, I'm on 40% after 45 hours with updating weather and my new habit of checking the BBC News website now and again.

And having posted the above a few days ago today the battery has almost depleted itself in the last 8 hours. I've no idea why. Much of the time it was asleep with wi-fi and 3G turned off. I did dare to make a one minute phone call in the afternoon.

My phone is still holding strong and I'm well pleased with the battery life now. Even using wifi doesnt seem to drain it much.

I did install the excellent aCircuitboard live wallpaper but now it's off again. Even so the phone lost half its charge in four hours today. I did do a little forum reading on it.

I'm generally getting a couple of days off a single charge, however, if the phone is unable to send an email for whatever reason it has got so hot that I have had to take it out of my pocket and it is unpleasant to handle, the battery will die in minutes. I have had good improvements with juice defender particularly disabling some aps for network access. I also switch off mobile and wireless at night and when I don't want to access web or read mails using the widgets. App killer made very little difference. What I have found a wee bit irritating is reboot time is almost five minutes, though my wife's desire seems to reboot in about thirty seconds, Sad

Almost 5 minutes?  Mine boots in about 45 secs.  Either you have an app on your phone which is causing the CPU usage to go through the roof, or you simply have a f***ed up system.

Tried a factory reset lately?  I know it's a lot of work, but if it solves your problem or helps you identify the culprit, it'll be worth it.

I turn all internet-related stuff (WiFi, 3G, etc) off and press the power button to put it on standby.  I have he phone set up to require the pattern lock indeed.

Mobile companies need to spend more time now developing longer lasting batteries. No point having phones with loads of bells and whistles if the power barely lasts

Ok folks the time has come to perform the reset, being as I have an unresolved sending email problem that the o2 people tell me only a full factory reset will put right! HOWEVER, having updated to 2.2 I can no longer find the back up facility that I need to perform first.  Anyone any ideas?

i seem to get ok standby but when useing the built in 3gp or the rock player app for avi playback i lose about 1% battrie per min of playback... this means even if i convert to the shockingly bad quality of 3gp i still dont get enough playback to be worth takeing film or tv shows with me when im away from home...
dose the drop in battrie sound right as when i had a nokia n91 it didnt drop this quickly...

i testied a samsung wave before i optied for the htc desire and samsung gave me a code to change the uart mode between  AP/CP UART mode.. this increased the battrie by 4 times..
dose the htc have a UART setting and would changeing it help with battrie life and how much
playback of video uses... i belive the uart setting changes the hd playback mode???

1% per minute?  Hardly normal ... except perhaps for the first few %.

Mine drops from 100% to 90% faily quickly, but afterwards it takes longer.  On average I can watch 2 full-lenth movies (90-95 minutes per movie) with Rockplayer, and that leaves me with about 20% battery power.

I can believe this...i used to cry about my battery life as well. Theres this thing going around with the desire and battery/charger calibration where you keep plugging your charger in and out...it is posted on this board...i did this and it has worked wonders.

I used to get under 8 hours life, currently my phone is on 28 hours since the last charge and i still have half my battery left.

Although i did make some big changes along with doing this battery calibration. I now turn off my internet when i dont use it (mobile switch off when pressing the on/off button) i also have a widget to dim brightness everytime i turn my phone on idle.

i dont use any app killers of juice programs either...im going to start keeping track of how much hours/days i can get with each charge....this one is going on 29 hours with half the battery still left
