Can't connect to Virgin Media hub

Hi all, recently upgraded my really out-of-date old Nokia to a considerably better HTC Desire.

As the title says, I can't connect to my Virgin Media broadband hub.  It's hidden but i've tried apps like HiddenSSID finder and they can't even find/connect to it.

Breakdown of what's happening:

- I access the wifi settings, but it's not listed there.  I can add it with all the correct information that I need and all it says it "Not in range, remembered", even when i'm standing right next to it.

- I tried tethering the phone to my PC, and it can access the internet from it with no problems at all.  I can browse the web and look at apps on the Market (hence how I got the HiddenSSID app).

- I've read up/googled the question and i've found various proposed solutions to the problem but I can't do half of them.  I've checked everything on my phone to find out how I can change the channel it's attempting to access with no luck.  I've tried various other solutions with no results.

So i've come here to ask for help.  I've not got a router and I can access my Virgin Media hub with my wireless USB adapter with ease.  2 other people live in the house and they can access the hub with their phones (they're on Android too) so I dunno why I can't.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure what the problem is with your hub. Just make sure it isn't using channel 13.

Hidden SSID enabler requires you to unhide the SSID initially, so you can connect to the hub. It then remembers the connection once you hide it again.

So, you need to sort out the problem while the SSID isn't hidden. If you can, then that app will allow you to switch back to a hidden SSID.

Yeah I did.  I deleted the connection that was setup previously by me and tried searching for it/re-adding it to my Wifi connections but I had no luck with that.


I'll try that, then.  It finds other networks in the area btw but it just seems to be our network that I can't find or access.
