Hi folks,

Recently upgrade to an HTC Desire on Orange UK, lovely phone, a couple of pretty major issues:

1. I have the warning message, "SD Card Mounted Read Only" persistently in the top bar and cannot use the camera, install apps etc. I have tried unmounting, formatting (in XP and the phone), error checking under XP, reseating...nothing works.  This a 16GB Kingston brand new card!

2. My new 3G sim from Orange UK is registered and my number transferred, I can make/receive calls and texts, but there is no internet connection, not even 2G/GPRS let alone 3G!  The net works fine on my home wifi network though, I have tried the standard settings from the Orange website, my sim and from calling 150 and being walked through it.  As well as various googles on the subject.

Please can anyway help me get my phone working! All I want is 3G and a memory card to work! Not much to ask is it?!!? Please, pretttttty pleeeease!  Smiley

SD card... You might need to unmount and remount it.
Settings > SD & storage > Unmount
Restart your phone to take effect.

Your APN settings are probably out. Is there a 3G or HSDPA or EDGE icon on the top bar? If it isn't, you need to call up your carrier for the APN settings.

Thanks sakai,

I figured the lack of net was because my new tariff isn't coming online until 15/11!

The microSD, I unmounted, mounted, formatted and it seems okay now.  But I am avoiding using doubleTwist/HTC Sync as I believe syncing with iTunes causes this issue, it's a software fault in Froyo because the card works fine in my computer.  So I guess I just don't get any music on my Desire, which is sad and a major flaw but hey.

I suspect that there's a malware in your PC. I connect my phone to the PC all the time and I have no problems. You can try to copy things over manually, although I use wireless connections more often than not...

Ah doubtful but plausible, I'll run scans and try once more. But all the googling I've done, a *lot* of people have the same issue after updating to Froyo.

Yes, it is a Froyo problem, caused when two different sources write into the same partition and one is suddenly cut off. Blame it on Microsoft's FAT partition system.
