Hi,

I have the desire hd, generally it's pretty good but I have a few little issues with it. Firstly it can be a bit sluggish I have noticed especially in apps such as angry birds. I have tried all the usual tricks such as the usb debug option and turning off syncing but I sill seems to be an issue the phone is still very usable but it's just very frustrating. Also I have another issue some of my shortcut icons especially in folders quite often fail to load their icons instead they just get a default green android icon.

If    anyone please suggest any solutions to either of these issues I would be very grateful.

Well, my first solution will be to tell you that you are in the wrong forum. There is a dedicated forum for the HD.

A more helpful comment will be that with any sluggishness you should try to reboot the phone first. I would also use Quick System Info to find out what is pulling processor power. But most of your symptoms can be explained by a slow SD-card. Are you installing apps in the SD card? It does sound like the SD-card is acting up a little.

p/s: Those are very unusual tricks and have absolutely no bearing on device performance. Who taught you them anyway? Seems dodgy to me, if I'm any judge. And yes, I am a good judge when when it comes to Desires acting up.
