 Grin
So yesterday there was this update for desire.
and i wanted to update it.
and it downloaded fine. and i clicked to update it. and phone rebooted it said "verification failed"
(i think it went directly to recovery)
I disabled the verification in recovery. and selected the option to apply zip(the option to search for zip files)
and i found the update file, selected it, and it started to update.
so when it finished.

Since then brick Smiley

it started to do Boot Loop Thing (Nothing i can do about it)

I had official froyo before this happened rooted with unrevoked(worked fine)

on hboot it says
Bravo PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
microp-051d
radio-5.11.05.27

Recovery was clockwork mod, but now it says android system recovery <3e>

... Smiley hehe

Here are the things i tried to do so far:

First i clicked on CLEAR STORAGE (in Hboot) (think this was a mistake Smiley )

The recovery option has phone icon with red triangle, and when i select (vol up and power)
it says e: Cant open /cache/recovery/command and it shows me only 4 options(reboot, apply update.zip, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition) (the previous recovery had an option to disable the verification and other options)

i have tried, this wipe data factory reset, wipe cache partition.

Ive downloaded a bunch of roms and radios, one recovery, and tried like total of 10 of them with update.zip option and it keeps saying the same thing

E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted

(on one of them said that the whole check could not be completed(or something like that)

Smiley i have also downloaded the signapk.jar with openssl , and signed 2 update.zip files, and didnt work. the same thing, signature verification failed. (i will keep trying with this signapk)

also i have tried to plug it in usb, and adb says that device is offline...

(i have an old backup) but recovery doesnt have restore option anymore...(i think it was clocwork recovery before and now just regular recovery)

i want to experiment on it, try to fix it(and learn new things on this topic) until Sunday, then i will give it to my sister to go and get it fix in the service shop...

Can someone please give me more ideas, some advice, any help would do? Smiley

Congrats on fixing it.  You would have gotten an answer around this time.

Which update caused the problem and what are the phone's origins?  (branding, screen type, etc)
May come in handy if we know the cause of the problem.  That always makes it easier to spot it in future cases.

Thanks

I think i have slcd (im not sure, the box says 3.7-inch touch-sensitive screen)
i dont know about brand ether. i think it is not branded, because i cant find any operator logos(looked the phone and the box). but im not sure about that, because i bought it in a shop. and shops in serbia are weird, because they usually debrand phones and sell them like that. and most of the phones come from other countries, like germany or switzerland (i think this one was made to work in that, north west region of europe) the box is on german. WWE Smiley

The update i tried to install was the same one i flashed it with 2.29.405.2 (came out a few days ago) (maybe i interrupted the process, and that caused the problem) and before that, i had official latest at that time, i dont know the version...

maybe im imagining but i think the phone display is more clear. (display info says it is 240 dpi, i dont remember the last dpi) and there are some new animations.

Model number is htc desire a8181

Device serial number starts with HT07

Lesson to be learned here, if you are rooted, please don't apply OTA updates... HTC's updates definitely interferes with the recovery, radio and SU rights. If you need the update, just flash a new ROM. Why are you rooted without flashing a new ROM in the first place Wink

Sure Smiley

You need to have Windows on your PC(win xp, win vista, win 7, ...), and a usb cable for your phone.

Before you start, it would be good to remove your sdcard.(just in case, i dont think it will erase stuff from sdcard, but who knows)
but it will erase all the stuff from phones internal memory. like contacts, apps, settings... (the phone will be like new)

first you need to download the file

Go to:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
and find this file
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
(it is somewhere at the bottom, 9th file if you count from the bottom)
click on it, and wait five seconds, then it will ask you to save the file.
(size of the file is around 167MB)

Save it wherever you want.

Now, Power off your phone (pull out the battery, and put it back in) (this will switch off your phone)

Hold volume down button. and while holding it press the power button.
when the white screen with some words appears that means you are on the right track(if it doesnt, do the same thing again, power off your phone, and try again)

Now plug in your phone to your pc. (with usb cable) and on the phone it should say HBOOT USB PLUG (white letters with blue background behind the letters)

(if it does not say hboot usb plug, try plugging your usb cable on the back of your pc case)

Press Power button again. (just a short press)

Now there should be "FASTBOOT USB" (white letters with red background behind the letters)

dont touch the phone anymore Smiley

On your pc, start the file you downloaded. and when needed just click next next next Smiley . this installation will take some time, like 15minutes. and then click finish.

and after that, the phone will finish doing some stuff, and automatically restart itself, and show you the setup for the phone(time, location, your gmail account, like the first time when you bought the phone)

When this happens, you can unplug your phone from the usb, and start using it Smiley

good luck. if you have some problems, feel free to ask Smiley

An important additional note to the above, if the RUU fails to run, you might be using the wrong version. Check the dates (should be slightly earlier than when you bought the phone) and also the carrier branding (like O2 or Orange) because they have some stuff inside that needs the correct RUU.
