The touch screen on my Desire is cracked so I can not use the screenlock. The phone will be replaced but before this happens I would like to clear the stuff such as addresses, other private date, etc.  Does anyone have an idea on how this can be achieved via my PC?

Cheers

Paul

Do a physical factory reset and remove your SD-card. Only applies to clearing stuff, not backing things up. Link to factory reset guide is in my signature

I second that.  However Sakai's guide only mentions which menus to select, not where they are exactly.  (Perhaps it would be wise to edit your guide then Sakai?)

Here's the exact description :

Quote from: HTC
With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.

Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the Volume Down button.

Press Volume Down to select Clear Storage, and then press Power.

Press Volume Up to start the factory reset.

If you can't see the screen at all, the 3 androids should appear in around 5 seconds.
