today I have found that the majority of the pictures / videos I have taken are no longer on my desire (or appear not to be) the odd thing is that they appear (pics) with the contact detail still but I cannot find them anywhere using a file manager or as a external disc. If I can see the pic on the people contact info, then it must exist on the phone, correct?
I have not played with the SD card. The only thing I did yesterday was to get rid of the Advance App killer. In the DCIM file there is a file called .thumbnails which has some 81 items in (i suspect this is where my data is) but when I open this file the files are called something along the lines of (1)-159407696-s=1418657-fh=274-gh=160-mode=20-AG=0 and states permissions -rw.
Can anyone help me as i need to get these pics etc back
cheers Jtotch

Good idea to bin the takskiller.

Try SDrescan from market. If still nothing, then card is probably bad.

No, HTC people app keeps another copy in the system... Like James said, it could be a dud card. Some bad vendors hack the card to show more size, but it is a lot smaller.

Hi Guys, tried the SDscan but no joy. I think that this has been a case of SD card going off the rails  Embarrassed. sakai4eva are the pictures retained by HTC People app accessible in any way?

No... the image saved is kinda small. Syncing with Google and you have it in your Google contacts. Then you can save a kinda small image....

Just running "undeleter" which on the face of it is recovering a lot of files from the SD card that were not there just now. Will let you know if this works when it has finished scanning....cheers

Well, it might work... Fingers crossed for you!

Although, losing data too often a few years ago taught me one thing: Do daily backup for things you can't afford to lose.

Well thank god for the software called "Undeleter", it has managed to recover everything and I mean everything I have ever put onto my SD card. just done a drag and drop and put all the data back onto the SD card (and yes copied to hard file).

because I did not have much data on there had not done a back up yet but have done so now. Great bit of software...managed to get back the last picture taken of my mum who died recently, hence the urgency cheers guys...

The best way to recover deleted photos from android device like HTC Desire is to follow a step by step tutorial, here's a good one that helped me last time:

The tutorial is easy to follow and works well for me. Hope that it helps you too.
