My HTC Desire has been sluggish, so i did a factory reset this morning, and put in a new SD card.

I've installed three apps only, Watchdog, WeatherEye, and Kindle.  No pictures, no texts.

When I go to watchdog, it says I only have 92064kb/425212kb available. There is LESS available then when I did the restore!!

Where has all my memory gone?

Watchdog monitors the RAM memory, not the ROM.

To know the amount of ROM space (or "disk space" in plain english), go to Settings -> SD & phone storage and look just below the bar that says "Internal phone storage".

There's no need to worry about RAM, as Android's speed isn't affected by how much RAM is available.  Android is nothing like Windows, so if you're thinking in Windows terms I can only tell you to get that "I need more free RAM" idea out of your head.  You can cram a gazillion terabytes of RAM in there and it won't make a difference.

On a default new phone, 114 is the ballpark figure.  Depending on how many contacts, mails and apps you already have on there, 105 is easily reached. The advertisements may say that it has 512MB internally, but around 400 of that is taken up by Android itself.  So that leaves you with slightly more than 100MB.
