Hi,

I have just got a new Desire and am really pleased with it so far. Unfortunately, I am not very technically minded and am having trouble downloading apps from the Market. When I try to download an app, it just says 'Starting download' and then never goes any further, despite me leaving it for hours.
I had a look through the forum and some people had similar issues, but it was down to their internet connections. I have tried using my own WiFi modem and also from different connections but nothing seeme to work.

I would really appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,
Craig

I've tried downloading over 3g and 3 different WiFi APs and had the same problem everyone is having. My guess is it's a server problem that will get sorted out some time...

yes im having that same problem. My market app told me there wee updarted so i clicked update all and  it seems to have downloaded  ( little icon on top appeared)but is just sems to be stuck on the install bit. have left the phone on for over nigth and still no installation, so i cant install any new apps. I can cancel all the new atempted downloaded but my last update (rebtel)  has bottlenecked the installation if i click on that i dont get the cancel download just view details, so i cant progress. I have removeed the battery and turn phone on and off several times. i have rerun set up app as suggested else where. Any ideas?? whats this rom reflash and how do u do it??
do i need to do a hard reboot? if so how do u do it and what do i back up??
The phone did this once b4 and just removing the battery and putting back in solved the problem and i could stop the downloads b4 but cant get past ths block caused by the auto update of rebtel

Having the same problem. A Google search showed that this problem has happened to a lot of people over the last 6ish months. Tried all the solutions I can find but having no luck. Only had the phone 5 days, I wasn't expecting problems like this so early on

My problems fixed themselves (or I fixed them) last night. I cancelled the 3 stuck downloads, force-closed the Market app, then fired it up again and started the installation again, and it worked - they all came down over my WiFi connection really quickly.

I had this issue and I could only solve it by dumping my googlemail.com account in favour of a gmail.com account.
Worked like a dream after that.

Wonderful advice.  I followed your above steps as I was experiencing the same issue.  Worked like a dream.  Thank you garryknight  Smiley

You're very welcome. But do be aware that the Market does go down or stop working (e.g. for tonight's major updates) so this fix might not always work. Sometimes it's just a matter of waiting until Google get it sorted.
