Hi everyone

I've had my desire for about 4 months, rooted it using unrEVOked sucessfully and have played around with a few different roms.

i had leedroid on it maybe 3 weeks ago and it kept going in reboot cycles, which sucked so i changed Roms. last week it started to freeze occasioanlly with my current rom (i'm using MIUI 11.26). now it is just frozen solid basically.

It is stuck on the HTC screen at bootup. If i use the volume down key and power to boot, it will go into bootloader, but when i go and click recovery, it just reboots and does the same thing, freezes at HTC. So i'm unable to get into clockwork.

Any ideas? I took it to a mobile repair place and they said it was software related but were next to useless otherwise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to run an RUU and send for warranties.

There might be something wrong with your phone... I can only suspect but the NAND might be damaged.... Not sure about it though...

Morning all,

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Desire_HD:_Full_Update_Guide

I had this exact same problem when following the above wiki to install Cyanogenmod: I followed the instructions to temp then permanently root the phone but after using ROM Manager to download Cyanogen and rebooting to install it, the phone would freeze with that dreaded HTC white page.

I thought that it's a rather fine night-light but little else at this point...

Still, after a fretful night worrying about it, I've just managed to solve this problem.

  • Power off your phone; you might need to remove the battery if you're 'stuck' on the white HTC bootloader screen.  Make sure your phone is not connected to power or your PC via USB - in my case, it would automatically boot in this case and I'd be stuck again
  • Download a genuine HTC ROM for your phone; http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/ace/stock/1.32.405.6/PD98IMG.zip is the 1.32.405.6 image
  • Take out your SD Card and connect to your computer directly via a card reader
  • Copy the PD98IMG.zip file to the root of the SD Card
  • Reinsert the SD Card to your phone and whilst holding down the 'vol-' button on the left of the phone, press the power button
  • You're in the bootloader and in my case, it automatically started to recover from the zip on the SD Card; if not, follow the options to recover
    • Rejoice as your phone plays the HTC jingle and boots back up again!
I should add that this will unroot your phone so if you want to play around with custom roms or the such again, you'll need to re-root it.  Still, you're on the correct version of software with HTC to do this easily and the Cyanogen link above will tell you how you can re-root if you need to.
