Do not worry HTC owners, you are not forgotten. According to spokesman Android 2.3 Gingerbread is definitely in the works for the HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire Z, the original Desire and the Incredible S. The updates are scheduled for Q2, so that means from April onwards.

If you remember, the Incredible S started shipping this weekend in the UK running Android Froyo. HTC however managed to surprise us with the Gingerbread update for the original HTC Desire, HTC Desire Z and HTC Desire HD users.

The original Desire already went from Eclair to Froyo and now its getting Gingerbread too. It seems like the kind of support all Android phones should be getting. So far we do not have specific schedules on the updates but we will keep you posted if we hear anything new.

Me neither.  Battery life is excellent anyway.

(and yes, that's a stock Desire on a stock ROM with a stock 1400mAh battery)

In all seriousness, the improved battery life is nice.  I'm more interested in the claims for improved speed.  Oh, and I hope it needs less space.  2.2 only leaves about 115MB for apps.
On top of that, we'll need to explain dozens of times that people will need to remove apps and/or do a factory reset just to give them enough space on the phone to get the download on there.  This is going to be fun.

Ok, confused by what was said, yes I'm one one them that you'll have to explain a dozen of times that apps will have to be deleted to create space so update can be downloaded. I don't understand this. When my had the ota update from eclair to froyo I didn't delete anything. So, you're saying when the update finally arrives and I get a message (update available) I should say no, go delete lots of apps and then update phone ? How much space is needed ? Also a gingerbread related question.
I've watched a few videos of a mobile phone conference and they were showing the desire s, wildfire s, etc. They said it comes with gingerbread (and it was) but the keyboard on those phone were white, notification bar menu also white, I thought gingerbread all had black keyboards, etc and the menu might've been white too (can't quite remember) anybody can clarify ? Is this gingerbread different from say, cm7, leedroid, etc. Thanks for any info  Grin
