Since I've upgraded from Froyo to Gingerbread a few months ago my Desire falls from time to time - unregularyly but often - into a reboot loop. I found two ways to stop this:
  • wait until battery is down (can be a few hours)
  • stop the rebooting manually this way:
    • remove case
    • remove battery
    • insert battery (but do not switch on the telephone)
    • wait a few hours (waiting only a few minutes is not enough, usually I use these hours to load the battery
So the Desire is - in one word - unusable.

My Question: Is there any way to go back to "Froyo"? And if, how to go this way. (If not I consider to throw the Desire away and to buy a current Android based phone, perhaps a "Galaxy S2".)

I didn't have this problem but my desire lagged a lot with this update. So i rooted my desire and installed cyanogen 7 on it and now it works like a charm. Try it - better than just throw it away..

Found a well written description (in german language!!!) in http://www.brutzelstube.de/2011/revolutionary-das-ultimative-tool-fur-s-off-und-root/. Using this now I have a rooted Desire with Froyo.
