Hopefully someone can help me with the problems I am encountering while trying to apply the OTA update. I bought the phone online a number of months ago, it's unbranded and I currently use a 3 Mobile SIM.

Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 3.6.32.15-gf9c0527 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Build number: 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys
Software number: 2.09.405.8
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
I continually get a message telling me that there is a software update available, which I proceed to download and then attempt to apply it, which inevitably fails during installation. I have tried removing the update.zip from the downloads folder and placing it in the root of the SD card, more recently I have tried the OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_release567cypyi0feo4th5.zip update, but continue to get errors. I have tried toggling signatures/asserts to no avail.
The error is as follows (for update.zip):
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
After toggling signatures I then get:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/AccountSyncManager.apk", "4d3922776d89af26769536fcbdb708ae48ec5d17", "6eb8b683cff97342f4a46894b5263803b3cd00a4")
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Is there anything that can be done?
