Hi,
I got today a message with the subject "Systemsoftware-Update install".
My device is already rooted. Is it safe to do despite that this System Update to the version 1.21.405.2?

If you haven't changed the ROM (by the sounds of the update, you haven't) then it should be fine. Rooting a phone just gives you superuser permissions.

I started update, I could see some movement on the screen, the the device has been rebooted and it works fine.
But when I'm looking for updates now, I'm getting a message to update my System Software with the same version (1.21.405.2), which I already did.
Hence, my System Software has not been updated.
Did anybody try to update his/her rooted device using this (1.21.405.2) System Software version?

Mines rooted, but it wont update to 1.21.405.2, it goes through the process of dowloading the file, but when it tries to install, the screen changes from the phone icon with the Green arrows to the phone icon with a Red question mark above it, the phone will then re-boot itself and when its back on i can get up to 10 application force closing, this is very annoying.

I think you need to un-root update then root again.

Hi Karma,

can you describe how to un-root and then root the phone again.
Did you try to do it on your HTC Dessire?

Best,
Paul

I tried to un-root my phone and after it just kept looping on the HTC logo boot up screen  Shocked, a manic couple of hours later and i decided to just re-root the phone.

All good again  Smiley

Right, i found an un-root for the .80 Bootloader, went through the process of downgrading the phone from 1.15.405.04 to 1.12.605.1 and it still will not work, it seems no matter what RUU i use it fails to un-root. Angry

Cant even install a custom ROM, ah well...............

Hi, I have the very same problem of yours.
Nothing happens and when I try to unroot or update to 2.2 it gives a message of signature fail.

No luck at all.

I know this isn't an answer, but it is a work around. Why don't you get a custom 2.2 rom and flash to your phone. I am currently running the 2.2 from modaco (r5) and it is running very smooth.

Thanks a lot for ur help.
I have a few questions .
1- is it safe to install?
2- do you have the link for it?
3- I ll be able to get updates or only use moded versions?

Again, tks a lot.

edit: Tried to install r5 version but wasnt succesfull. It starts to install, but sudenly comes back to selection screen (using Clockwork mod). Its freaking me out this phone.

Edit2: Success!!!

I've followed these tips   http://android.modaco.com/content-page/307683/howto-unroot-your-htc-desire/page/120/
and did the gold card from this http://www.roothtchero.co.uk/goldcard-2.

Its working like a charm.

Glad it is working for you. Now, you can keep checking the modaco website for any new roms they release. It is quite easy to flash roms after the first time. Enjoy. Grin
