Latest Sense update not coming to desire - HTC

Sorry if this is not considered posted in the right "bit" of the forum but.....

Just spoken to HTC technical support on 01753-218960 about wether the new updated sense ui currently on the Desire HD and Z will be made available to normal desire handsets. After he "consulted" with a colleague he came back to me and said that it will NOT be made available. Now, wether he is high up enough in the food chain to know this for sure is unknown but I am dissapointed that it appears even though the handset is now running Froyo, Desire will be left out in the cold and not able to offer the extra goodies that the HD and Z will have on offer. What a shame if it turns out to be true. I was very seriously close to ordering a desire but may now have to consider the bulkier HD model which is more expensive and larger than I would like. Unless there is a backdoor "unofficial" way of flashing the new interface onto the Desire. Huh

I can confirm to you that the new HD & Z builds will be making their way to the 'classic' Desire.

There are ROMs already out there that are using parts of these builds.

These will be incorporated into custom (unofficial) releases from the developers of such things.

I also heard that the sense.com site will support the 'classic' Desire from December.

We will have to see, but on an unofficial level, this will definitely happen.

I'm wondering if we can get the "official" HTCsense.com goodness AND custom ROMs... makes me salivate in anticipation

I honestly believe this will be the case.

For me, i went from loving Sense (M2D port) on WinMo, then on Android (HTC Hero), then i got seriously bored of it on both WinMo & Android.

I can skin anything, so i used to skin (theme) the hell out of it. Then i stopped using, and just was satified with stock Android OS UI. I use Beautiful Widgets/Home so if i want the Sense look, it can be easily achieved.

But i wil make use of the sense.com site (for theming needs) as you can't beat the original for a base theme.

Its a great idea tho in essence as you can theme your ROMs legitimately and feel that you haven't broken anything or voided your warranty in doing so.

Be cool, be positive. You can achieve anything you want!

Nah... what I really want is to (finally) have official Apps2SD+ support, as well as OCUV kernel, and a custom theme, and option to reboot in the power menu, and full backups, removing all those bloatware, and...

Wait, I need root for all that.

Sheesh, once you root, you never go back!

Official APP2SD+, not sure if that will ever happen......dunno, you never know.

The ROM i am on, Noonski's has everything you listed...the Reboot in menu is a nice touch.

Oh... there's no "sarcasm" button on the reply screen... scoured it for hours...

Officially, methinks Google will never support a2sd+... too darn difficult to enforce paid apps if that happens.

Anyway, I (finally) got my class-6 SD card in, and I'll celebrate with a completely new ROM! Yeah, baby!

I've seen all HTC phones that claims to be updated. All have in common 1Gb or more of ROM. Maybe that's the point
