Hi,

I use bluetooth to transfer files between my computer and the desire (both ways). Is there a faster way to go about it?

Thanks

It's quite a bit faster using a USB cable between the phone and the PC and transferring files using drag and drop. Or a sync tool like MS Sync Toy. Assuming that you're using Windows. If you're using Linux, you could check out Grsync.

I'm on Windows. I presume you have to set the phone to behave like a USB drive. If this is so than this is one area where I miss certain functionality on my Nokia. On that phone it was possible transfer files without making the phone behave like a USB drive. This was possible thanks to the drives that came with OVI suite.

Obviously Android Wifi Manager, DoubleTwist and SwiFTP have been missed Wink

Google it, try it, buy it!

I presume you have to set the phone to behave like a USB drive.

Yes, but that's a no-brainer. You plug it in and the phone asks how you want it to behave: like a USB drive, to sync with HTC Sync, to allow another machine to share its Intenet connection, or to just charge the battery.

But sakai's right. A few companies have now brought out apps to sync over WiFi. Well worth a look.

If the computer you want to exchange files with is on a WiFi network and has shares available to the network you can use ES File Explorer to connect to your local network and copy and paste files over WiFi.
